Blade1 School Philosophy
The Blade 1 Professional Power Skating School was established in 1988 by Brigitte G. Wolf-Taulbee. Brigitte, who has served continuously since 1988 as the owner and head professional instructor of the Blade 1 school, is the head on-ice instructor for each and every session of the Blade 1 school regardless as to whether the session is for the beginner youth hockey player or the professional player.
The Blade 1 school provides an intensive 12 day program that runs 4 days per week over a three week period (the Waterloo sessions) and a 10 day program that runs 5 days per week over a two week period (the Ayton sessions). Each program focuses on improving individual skating performance and strengthening individual skating skills with emphasis placed on improving technique, balance, agility, power, speed and endurance by breaking the skills down into individual components. The focus of the program is on correcting individual skills and techniques rather than simply running participants through drills. By working on and correcting individual skills and components, as well as technique, on a daily basis, this intense program helps to maximize muscle memory and maintain improvement, and provides the building blocks for a strong skating foundation.
